YEAR CLUB CHARTERED
The Bronx Club was chartered in 1961.
In the Spring of 1961 Mrs. Florence Allen Holmes, National President of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc. saw the need and expressed a desire to establish a NANPBWC, Inc. Club in the borough of the Bronx.
The first planning meeting was held at the home of the late Mrs. Rosalie M. Johnson.
A Charter was presented to the Bronx Club in September at their first luncheon celebration.
Since becoming a chartered club, the Bronx Club has raised thousands of dollars for aspiring young adults to continue their education, as well as sponsoring numerous events according to the guidelines and mandates of the National Office.
Empowerment Workshop Series: are workshops held on current issues which impact the black community – Get Ready/Stay Ready, Safe Encounters, Think Heart Health, Triple Negative Breast Cancer, Childhood Obesity, Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence
Young Women’s Leadership Summit – The goal is to provide young women with the opportunity to meet women who look like them, come from the same community, faced similar challenges and not only persevered but succeeded.
Charitable Events: Distribution of book bags and school supplies; holiday gifts for students and hospital/nursing home residents; Breast Cancer Walk and African-American Day Parade.
